Doll House

In my opinion Helmer's reaction to Nora's confession was a little extreme. Helmer had a right to be concerned about his reputation but, the way he speaks to the woman he loves, exchanged vows with and beared his children is disgusting. Helmer:.... You will therefore continue to reside here, but the children shall be taken out of your hands. I dare no longer entrust them to you. (act3 P319). Who does he think he is? Yes be upset but don't cast away your woman like that. Especially, considering she did for him and their families well being. Nora had every right to leave him. She shouldn't have left her children forever but to get urself together would have been acceptable.

A Solid Home

Define: A solid home is when the stone slabs of a tombstone are placed on a grave site, as Lydia proclaimed: "A solid home! That's what I am! The stone slabs of my tomb (p781)
Voice:....... you also have a solid and Christian home in the most terrible neglect. The homes do tremble before inexorable death....... (P779) Lydia: a solid home, Muni! That's just what I wanted...... and you already know, they took me to a strange house. (P780) Don Clement: Lili, aren't you happy? Now your house is the center of the sun, the heart of every star, the root of all the grasses, the most solid point of every stone (P780) Donna Gertrude: At times daughter you'll be very cold, and you'll be the snow falling on an unknown city or gray roofs and red caps (P780).
'A Solid Home' in my opinion is about death, the in between (spirits) and the final resting place (solid home)

Compare and Contrast Simon Pelkings and Elesin

Pelkings was an Administrator Prince, who does not believe in death. He is straight forward and not easily offended. He does not believe in religion but is well respected.
Like Pelkings, Elesin is well respected.
On the otherhand, Elesin is very respectful of death ( not sure if it has anything to do with the fact he is destined to die or not). He speaks very poetically. And is easily offended. Elesin also has a connection to the Gods.

Death and a Kings Horseman

Olunde committed suicide to help save the honor of his racebecause his father could not. Iyaloja: there lies the honor of your household and of our race. Because he could not bear to let honour fly out of doors, he stopped it with his life. The son has proved the fatjer Elesin, and there is nothing left in your mouth to gnash but infant gums (Scene5,P.667) Praise-Singer: Elesin, we placed the reins of the world in your hands yet watched it plunge over the edge of the bitter world from its course and crashed it beyond the edge of emptiness- you muttered, there is little that one man can do, you left us floundering on a blind future. Your heir has taken the burden on himself (Scene5, P667).
